*affordable furniture for temporary housing.*
Russia's attack has forced millions of Ukrainians to quickly change their place of living. People faced the discomfort of temporary housing
, which was quickly constructed or rearranged.
Finding themselves in unfamiliar cities and foreign homes, the settlers feel excluded from the local routine,
deprived of a full social life and roots.
The sudden change of context we were not prepared for will leave many of us with psychological trauma and "refugee syndrome".
Refugees should receive qualitative, attractive, and comfortablyfurnished temporary housing, despite the lack of time and money
in the current context.
Shelters residents must feelrespect for their dignity,
despite the horrors of the war.
Creating a flexible, aesthetically appealing, and affordable furniture line that could be used to equip any space in any temporary housing.
Furniture design allows people to make them by themselves: from available materials, with a simple tool, without special professional skills.
Each object in the line should be used in as many ways as possible, to be multifunctional.
Furniture units can be combined and connected with each other, diversifying the typology and creating new ways of use. One unit in itself is valuable; several connected units are of a greater value than as many disconnected ones?
This is an open-ended project. Constant experiments in the process of using and adapting furniture to their own needs and context by residents will create new typologies of objects.
The project is open for copying, distribution, and rethinking by other people. The results of our work, recorded in detailed and simple instructions, become a common good.
We develop and implement our solutions directly in the context of use and proximity to users. We become co-authors of residents’ everyday life, and residents become co-authors of design solutions.
Our solutions encourage users to be actively involved in the creation of space, rethink its configuration and individual units, and find new ways of usage.
☑︎ Launching of the "Design Against Evil" platform
March 2022
As part of the initiative, we are researching the current needs of the people in the military context. We are looking for solutions that can be implemented from the few available materials, without special skills and specific tools. We share in Тelegram and Іnstagram. We inspire ourselves.
☑︎ Developed our own solutions for quick housing
March 2022
Agreed to cooperate with "Khust Hostel", identified opportunities and limitations of the place. We researched the materials available on the market. We decided on the principles, developed and visualized the first solutions.
☑︎ Arranged the common areas in "Khust Hostel”
April 2022
We created objects and filled by them three main common spaces of the hostel: meeting place, co-working, active recreation zone. And also, three smaller ones: a balcony and two spaces between the floors. Has found a name for the furniture’s line: "Peremebli" (after words victory “Peremoha” and furniture “Mebli”).
